How to network effectively in crypto and build better products for Web3 Audience?

Networking has different effects and it can differ from industry to industry. Some industries such as the banking sector consists of individuals visiting LinkedIn often, networking and then gaining insights from the influencers. Unlike crypto where majority right from a famous product being launched or a large crypto exchange such as FTX winding down entirely or going bankrupt and similar events of such a massive scale take place on X (previously called Twitter) and rarely on reddit communities. In this post, I would like to shed some light on how we have built a fairly usable web3 MVP for our end users to start testing in the upcoming days.

The initial build:

When you are building any product, the first question is where to start, how to start and when to launch. When it comes to web3, technology evolves at a faster pace than the available technologies and you need to swim along with the rapidly changing tech if not you will disappear.

When you are launching a web3 product, interact a lot regularly with your end users either it be the seasoned traders, developers or just web3 users. Well, if your founding team are themselves seasoned developers or seasoned traders or seasoned users of web3 just like us then it will be a lot easier for you to find the issues which web3 people face regularly.

Note down what you have been thinking all along when you were using the products and services available in the market and see how it can be built better. Once you have assembled a founding team of engineers, you need to make your ideas, flaws and vision flow to them. Gather inputs from the engineers about what can be built immediately and what cannot be.

When we started building web3 analytics platform and a blockchain explorer, it was a lot more work to deal with limited available engineers and cannot be built by a smaller team. While a part of our engineering team are still building it rapidly, I started focusing on launching easier tools/products to gather feedback from users. That was how Proxikle Blockmath evolved which was none other than a simple product which provides a unit calculator, tx fees calculator and staking calculator.

Ship Products Faster and more Efficiently:

  • Since Day 1, we use Jira to log our issues and to keep track of the timeline. We are a highly decentralized team around the world with obviously no real time leads for our junior engineers to report back. This makes our engineers work as an individual contributor rather than reporting to a manager back and forth.
  • Culture is something which you need to build during the early days of a company. Our culture revolves around building a decentralized company where everyone is responsible for their tasks and can question anyone irrespective of their seniority in the roles if the tasks aren’t fulfilled properly.
  • Test regularly and log issues in the product and as a founding team, assign a date before which the defect/feature should be fixed.
  • When you are building remotely, maintain a good relationship with your team by congratulating your team members every now and then and provide small rewards if they have done an exceptional job. You are not seeing each other physically, hence regular rewards keep your team members motivated towards the work they are doing.
  • Be honest - Don’t Trust, Verify: If you cannot build a product or if you feel it is really difficult to ship the initial build within a few weeks or months, inform your team so that others can work accordingly. We abide by the laws of crypto where our team doesn’t trust any team members blindly but verify regularly on how the tasks have been completed. This is why we build entirely on the cloud.

I hope this gave a few insights on how we are evolving and growing as a team. If you’re interested in joining our team, take a look at our Careers page for open roles in the company.
